А сама вимога, що книжка, аби викликати в читачах протест проти рабства, не може мати серед позитивних персонажів людей, які теж рабовласники, бо такий історичний період, мені здається чистої води презентизмом.

Окремим коментарем - дивись, як ти підмінив меседж "за рівність", "такі ж люди як і ми" на меседж "проти рабства".

"Хатина" - дійсно книга, яка направлена ПРОТИ рабства, АЛЕ НЕ за рівність. Таке бува. Більш того, це як раз було мейнстримом серед аболіціоністів того часу. Я вже наводив цю цитату не так давно, але якщо ти не читав, я автора не буду наводити - спробуй вгадати сам, без гугла.
